The Province of Quchan lies in north east Persia and is the home of a huge mixture of tribal people. There are Kurds, Lurs, Balouches, Arabs and Afshars. All weave rugs and textiles and it is often difficult to identify the origin because of the borrowing of designs and inter-mingling of the groups. This is Kurdish, was discovered in the area by the previous one owner in 1968 and has spent its life as a wall hanging or bedside piece. The condition remains impeccable. Designs are typically Kurdish but there is a liberal scattering of supertitious motifs randomly scattered through the field. Reference 3569. Size 160 x 92 cms., or 61 x 37 inches. Euros 485.
